date night.

Mr. P and I love weekend getaways.
So much so that last year it seemed we hardly had any free weekends.
This year we pledged to take less trips in effort to save money.

A few months ago while exploring the new Bechlter Museum's website I learned that they have Jazz musicians on Friday's.
The hubs and I love Jazz and up until this point we hadn't been able to find a venue in the area with good music. Typically we'd have to travel to Charleston to find a decent quartet.
We were thrilled to learn that the first Friday of April was a Miles Davis tribute, one of Mr. P's favorites.
*Originally the show was set to be outside on 'The Green' but due to weather it was moved inside.

We started our night with an early sushi dinner followed by some good tunes and finished it up with a drink at a local restaurant.
My love commented the next day that it felt like we had the city to ourselves and it truly did (the key was being a few blocks down from the rowdy club scene).
To me it felt like we were on vacation for the night and I'm thrilled to realize we don't always have to leave Charlotte for a fun night out.

*The beautiful sculpture in the last photo is a part of a collection by Niki de Saint Phalle (1920-2002). Many of her pieces are now being featured at The Bechtler Museum in the fourth floor gallery as well as The Green.
